Quasiarte

Nearly everything flows through the book. In my imagination,
this exhibition takes place on a train. Travelling towards Rome,
I go through all the tunnels with Millo Prini, who I then follow into
the stations. I also meet Jan Knap on the train for A Flight into Egypt.
Joseph, standing in the train carriage corridor, is smoking a Marlboro;
he accompanies Mary into the station with her suitcase and the bebito.

In the roots of a tree and in the breath of its leaves lies the paradigm
of a brief eternity which is renewed each spring; the silence
of the walls exists in the art technique that I discovered in New York
at the home of Ian Wilson - angel of the spoken word -
a two-metre-tall artist seated on a chair in an empty room: a marvel.
Words without curves in the geometry of art, but I could not listen to
Anglo-Saxon logic without thinking of Usellini's hot-air balloon,
Charlemagne's stuffed animals, Tano Festa's confetti,
the green thought of a frog, Paola's pencils,
and Platero—the donkey whose creator won the
Nobel prize for literature in the year of Mario Nigro's Spazio Totale. 

I need to bring order. Lisa Ponti, half asleep, draws without realizing it.
She sketches the Grimm sisters cooking up fairy tales with angels
and spices in every pocket, they are celebrating the descent of the astronaut
who has stepped out of his shuttle and is coming in through the window. 
Caro Carretto and Cara Morte by Tommaso Trini, a work by Mario Merz,
a sunlit backdrop with hay and two rabbits. It is Van Gogh's haycart found
in a nearby landscape; then Salvo announces the first snow
under a streetlamp at the tram stop. A pause that Vincenzo Agnetti
envisioned as a continuous becoming, where art is never sacrificed to its
subject matter, or stripped of identity, in expectation of being renewed over time -
in the same way that Tarkovsky's spaceship journeys to the farthest
reaches of the cosmos, but can still somehow remember the image of a tree
from the garden back home. The important thing for art is that it is not bronze.
